Liberal Newspaper Criticizes Baltimore Clean Up

In the wake of President Trump’s recent criticism of Elijah Cummings district that includes much of Baltimore and the mess that it is in both physically and related to crime, a few Americans decided to stand up and make a positive difference. However, it seems the left-wing of politics doesn’t appreciate their efforts and is now seeking to drag their names through the mud in their ever-constant attempt to oust President Trump.

Last week, Republican and Trump supporter Scott Presler announced via Twitter that he would be organizing a trip to Baltimore to help clean up the city some. He tweeted, “Next week, I’m coming to Baltimore. I’m organizing a trash clean up in the city. If you’re free on a weekday, after work, please comment below for more details.”

He told the press that he wanted to take action, instead of just “complaining about the situation” as so many others are. He said that while he invited others to join him, he had fully expected to make the trip to the crime and rat-infested city alone. However, Presler’s invitation was not ignored.

“I’ve had so many volunteers reach out to me, it’s been overwhelming. Also, a very kind gentleman is willing to sponsor dumpsters for us,” he reported.

People from all over the US contacted Presler and agreed to join him in cleaning up areas in Baltimore. According to him, “We have people coming from Virginia Beach, Virginia, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as well as local Baltimore residents.”

So on Monday, a group of over 170 volunteers hit the streets of West Baltimore to pick up trash. But picking up trash isn’t all they did. They pulled weeds, cut grass, mended fences, and made an all-around effort to improve each area they came across.

Over the course of 12 hours, from 8 am to 8 pm, the group cleaned up over 12 tons of trash and hauled it away.

And the locals showed their support and great appreciation. Presler and others posted many videos of residents who came to help them as well as just say thank you both to the volunteers and to President Trump for serving their community and calling attention to their need.

But not everyone was so thankful.

A local liberal newspaper, the Baltimore Sun, wrote a piece condemning the group’s actions, claiming that it was politically motivated and only made the poor people of the city look bad.

The headline on the article read, “We assume it was pure motives that led a Trump supporter to launch a cleanup in Cummings’ district, right?”

How predictable for the left to take a good deed and turn it into something to sneer at.

They wrote, “It made for good photos, compelling videos, and catchy Twitter hashtags. A group of conservatives rolled their pickup trucks into one of West Baltimore’s most impoverished neighborhoods Monday for a cleanup day.” and continued with, “loaded down with trash bags and shovels, they cleared alleyways of old tires, food containers, paper, and other debris. They pulled up weeds and cut ways overgrown grass. The group posted before and after pictures on social media showing their progress.”

So far, it doesn’t sound so bad. But here’s where it gets snarky.

“Whatever he says his motives were, Scott Presler’s presence in Baltimore reinforces the tired image that the poor people in this city can’t take care of their own neighborhoods,” the Sun wrote.

They said while it “makes for a good photo opp,” it does “little to address the real problems.”

The paper could have taken this in a million different directions. Firstly, it could have just thanked the group for a job well done. It could have used this as an additional call for help from local politicians. It could have railed at the residents themselves for allowing the neighborhood to get to that state. None of which happened.

Lord knows, if the group had been Democratically led, we would have a never-ending amount of praise. But no, because Presler happens to be a Trump supporter, he and his valiant efforts were downplayed, criticized, and thrown to the wolves.

But this is the game Democrats always play, so why should this be any different?

However, Presler isn’t intimidated and told Fox News that he plans to organize similar trips to other areas such as Los Angeles and New Jersey. And good for him.

  1. Scott Presler’s presence in Baltimore reinforces the tired image that the poor people in this city can’t take care of their own neighborhoods,” the Sun wrote.

Well apparently not, otherwise the place would be clean. I’m from Baltimore we brushed our marble steps, swept the leaves, and hosed down the sidewalk.

  2. Of course the people of
Baltimore can take care of their own city but sometimes it takes a little inspiration to know where to start such a daunting task. Sometimes it just seems hopeless. Too bad their leaders don’t give them this hope and inspiration.

  3. The leftists are bigoted, racist, and hateful, all the time preaching about helping the down-trodden little guy. If they can’t do anything but complain about a true patriot who is trying against all odds to really clean up the swamp and speak the truth; for this he is hated by critics who want nothing but chaos hate and division. They are un Christian and immoral sickos!

  4. You can lead a donkey to water, but you cannot make him drink. Does anybody really expect anything different from these sniveling, whinning, losers? They don’t know how to be civil. It’s just not within them to be grateful for anything other than what they want. They are a bunch of spoiled brat children who will most likely never grow up. If they can’t have their own way they will ruin it for everyone else. They’re the kid’s on the baseball field that will take their ball and go home unless you play by their terms. Unfortunately this will only get worse because these “children” are now indoctrinating real children in the very school’s that we pay for. How do you like that folks?

  5. Of course it’s not that the people cannot collect trash – but when the city simply stops picking up the trash cans in a neighborhood, as they did in Baltimore, eventually the people simply give up, The question is which politicians were lining their pockets by scrimping on city services to the vulnerable? It wasn’t Republicans – there aren’t any there!

  6. Good for This Leader and his troupe of very willing hard working “We The People” to show great human compassion for their fellow Americans. Let’s call ths as it really is.

  7. The entire government of the city of Bullsh*tmore is all Democrat and the local paper isn’t worth paper for a bird cage. The “SUN” is nothing less than a “Fact-less rag”. Why doesn’t the SUN send their people out to do this? Well, then they wouldn’t be able to charge President Trump for everything that has happened since the end of the Civil War of 1860-1865!

  8. I guess the liberal media just likes their city full of trash and rats. At least someone cares and tries to help. The people of Baltimore must get off their butts and clean up their city. They should not need help from outside sources. Get some price citizens of Baltimore. Be proud of your neighborhood.

  9. Good for them just take a step back and look That dose look nice. Detroit has issues with this A lot of iner citys do. People quit careing for thenselves an others yrs ago. Self pride gose a Long way. Its a people thing not a color thing.
    Just saying…..

  10. I also am criticizing it. To see a bunch of naive White people cleaning up a ghetto for ungrateful people who kneel during the National Anthem and commit violent crimes against the White population, is nothing short of being chumps.

  11. Did people go to Baltimore, YES! Did people clean streets, allyies and mow grass and weeds? YES! Did it give residents hope and show them that people care,YES! To me, that is all that matters. Does it matter that a Liberal,Democratic, Socialistic RAG printed a negative response? NO! NO! NO!
