Mayor De Blasio is quite a special character, isn’t he? He’s the sort of person who loves to say one thing and do another. His hypocrisy has been pointed out several times over but this is some next-level stuff. This man simply does not care and his lack of care might be endangering lives.
Actually, there is no ‘might’ about it. De Blasio’s callous disregard for the world around him is going to cause major issues. After he told everyone that they could no longer head to public gyms and closed them all, what do you think that he did?
If your answer was “went to the Park Slope YMCA”, you are 100 percent correct. Unfortunately, we do not have a prize to offer you at this time. Passerbys were quick to let him know that they did not approve of this decision, too. You would think that De Blasio would feel like a major idiot and reconsider after being told how dumb he is by the citizens of NYC.
This imbecile has decided that he is not going to take the spread of the coronavirus seriously and we are not shocked at all. Luckily for other citizens of New York, Andrew Cuomo does appear to be taking things seriously. Times like this show the true colors of all our politicians.
Mayor de Blasio is indeed here at the Park Slope YMCA this morning. Passers by have commented negatively. One called him an idot. pic.twitter.com/FIgEmlf4Gf

There are some who are prioritizing the safety of the American citizen and there are others who could care less. These politicians are on both sides of the aisle, too. For every Republican who is making the right choices, there is another who is not. The same goes for the Democratic politicians who have been forced to spring into action during this crisis.
Trump may have helped to contribute the level of complacency that took place on a national level but Vice President Pence has been sure to communicate the true level of seriousness. De Blasio stands out from the crowd because he is the mayor of the nation’s most crucial city (from an economic standpoint).
If the New York City economy is not hustling and bustling, the effects that the rest of the nation experiences can be dire. Silly us for thinking that he might take his role seriously and do his best to help out. Instead, he is living up to the reputation of the dumb bureaucrat who lacks the self-awareness to know how stupid they are being.
The mayor of New York City should be treating the coronavirus with the same level of gravity as 9/11. De Blasio is essentially sticking his finger in the eye of all New York City residents and telling them that the rules do not apply to him. The coronavirus does not discriminate when you are rich and prominent. This is a lesson that De Blasio would do well to learn before it is too late.

He seems to think that the virus will spare him and all of the people that he could potentially pass it to because of who he is. Everything is shutting down but De Blasio wanted to make sure that he could pass the disease along to some vulnerable senior citizens beforehand. At least he was willing to close the bars before St. Patrick’s Day!
That’s one of the few wise decisions that he made. We are sure that the goofballs who think that this holiday is the be all end all would have descended upon the bars in droves. Who knows how quickly the virus might have spread then? The bad news is that he is sending the wrong message by refusing to stay home from the gym.
Does he realize that there are already lots of people who are skeptical about the effectiveness of social distancing? When he behaves in such a manner, he is sending a terrible message to these citizens. He is telling them that it is not a big deal and that they can essentially do whatever they want.
“If you love your neighborhood bar, go there now.” @NYCMayor – adding that you should do so “briefly” and with “social distancing” but his implication is ALL nyc bars could be shut down. “Everything is on the table.” #nbc4ny pic.twitter.com/PtLsE0eZ29

De Blasio also dawdled when it came to closing schools, a dumb decision that is probably going to contribute to the spread of the virus. The bar closings were also delayed, which means that the aforementioned revelers probably just decided to have their St. Patrick’s Day celebrations a bit early. Mind you, De Blasio ENCOURAGED them to go enjoy themselves while they still could!
This man does not seem to grasp the issues that we are experiencing and this is a terrifying thought for all those who are affected by his leadership. Political leaders have a strong influence on their supporters and De Blasio would have done well to take that into account.
