While this story might be a leftover, that does not make it any less important. There is no shortage of newsworthy stories that need to be reported on and we do not believe that there is a time limit on any of them. Jim Acosta is one of our least favorite reporters and we live to watch people dunk on him.
He thinks he’s the star of the show and he seems to think that no one is ever going to actually call him out for it. Chris Wallace has finally had enough and we support him 100%. When you compare this outburst to the usual theatrics that Acosta engages in, it does not seem that bad.
Everyone has their breaking point, though. When people have had enough of someone, it does not take much to set them off. So how did Jim Acosta finally manage to draw the ire of Chris Wallace? For starters, Acosta has been working Wallace’s last nerve for some time now. Some of you probably remember the nonsense that took place when Acosta managed to get his White House press pass revoked.
“I think he embarrassed himself,” said Wallace at the time. We concur with this assessment and wonder why Acosta would not simply quit while he was ahead. There was no reason to continue embarrassing himself but if you know anything about Jim Acosta? You know that he simply cannot help himself.
Wallace knows that reporters need to stick together and yet he is still fine with dunking on Acosta. That should tell you everything that you need to know about Jim Acosta. Even his fellow reporters wish that he would be willing to sit down and shut up every once in a while. There’s nothing wrong with being quiet when you do not know what you are talking about.
That is a lesson that Acosta has yet to learn, though. He thinks that he can place himself at the forefront of his reporting. He’s not here to give us the news, he thinks that he is the news. Finally, Wallace’s long-simmering hatred of Acosta ignited to a full blaze.
Of course, CNN was on Acosta’s side and did not like what Wallace had to say. Wallace simply said that he was horrified by the man’s continued antics. We do not know what was so wrong with this statement. Acosta clearly wants to one-up Trump and does not care how ridiculous he looks while trying to do it.
That’s why he needs to be humbled a bit and Chris Wallace is the person to do it. Wallace was even sure to spell out the differences between true political analysis and opinion hosts who are just there to get a rise out of people. It did not matter to the sensitive people who decided to take his statement and run with it.
Meanwhile, there are those who are willing to point out certain issues with Chris Wallace’s mentality. No one is a winner here. The president currently has opinion hosts advising him with major decisions. His own news network is looking to cover these events in the most neutral way possible. The opinion guys who are right down the hall from him probably know more than he does, so its hard to see why he thinks he’s the one who needs to fix things.
However, we are not here to pick on him too much. He is one of the best and brightest over at Fox. If anything, he wasn’t mean enough to Acosta. Wallace should probably watch himself. It wouldn’t take much to connect the dots on how Acosta became a thing. His style is not that dissimilar to Mike Wallace’s.
We do appreciate Chris for transcending the family business and not becoming that type of reporter himself. All we are saying is that there is plenty of blame to go around here. Mike Wallace gave birth to a lot of reporters’ styles. Before him, reporters were not as willing to behave in such a confrontational manner. They were taught to approach every subject with a certain amount of respect.
Let’s hope that more reporters start to steer clear of the sort of posturing that Jim Acosta has been making a career out of. It is high time that everyone stood up and said “no” to reporters like him. The Trump administration has already been willing to do so and we applaud them for sticking to their guns. The liberal media may not like it but they will live.
