Every now and then, we hear of how the Right or the Conservatives make nasty comments and the Liberals and the Left get offended.
What happens when they make a comment that we as Conservatives do not like?
They pretty much get a slap on the wrist, and it is forgotten about after a day or two. Apparently, if it is a Democrat who says or does something wrong or off the wall, then they may make the news for only a day if they make it at all. However, if a Conservative says something offensive, then all hell breaks loose.
Well, a Maryland Democrat Party official and a former candidate for the state Senate, Robbie Leonard was one of those who got more than just a slap on the wrist.
It is good to know that Conservatives are not the only ones who are getting attacked for their Freedom of Speech on gun control.
The hot seat was on fire and burning.
Liberal Robbie Leonard was sitting in it earlier this year when he posted a picture of a pro-gun and Second Amendment activist on his social media and was protesting with a sign that read, “We will not comply.”
This is a slogan used by pro-gun activists who support the Second Amendment rights. Leonard’s comment above the picture is what angered Conservatives.
He wrote, “Time to dox some homegrown terrorist.”
Leonard chose to post his expressions on a day known as “gun day.”
This is a day where gun control and rights advocates meet before lawmakers and state their case before the House Judiciary Committee in Annapolis.
No less than 1500 people were in attendance at the meeting.
State lawmakers took the testimonies of the people from Maryland for over 12 hours who were concerned and being affected by owning a gun.
During that time the post from Leonard went viral and angered many.
The Patriot Picket is an advocacy group for the First and Second Amendments in Maryland.
Fifty-two-year-old Paul Brockman, a “Captain” in the group, stated a rebuttal against the offensive post from Leonard, “We think it’s disgusting. He should apologize for it. An apology would be the compassionate thing to do.”
Brockman continued to say, “I mean, anybody who would….and, unfortunately, we see it more and more on the Democratic side. They don’t want people exercising their First Amendment rights.
And that was there First Amendment right to go out there on the sidewalk and say whatever they want – pro-gun, anti-gun.”
In protest, people wore shirts with the same picture that was in Leonard’s post but kept the emphasis on the “We will not comply” sign. When Brockman was questioned about the shirts his response was simple, “It’s saying that as Marylanders, we have had enough.”
Maryland Democratic Party Executive Director Ben Smith gave a statement in response to Leonard’s post, “When discussing firearm regulations, the specter of gun violence is always present.
These fraught conversations require peace and healing, not escalated conflict.
When activists wear shirts stating “We will not comply” with new firearm regulations, that action escalates the conflict and a willingness to flout the rule of law. Doxxing escalates the conflict and violates rights to privacy.
The Maryland Democratic Party respects the rule of law and peaceful participation in the legislative process. We ask that advocates on both sides do the same.”
Leonard sent another statement on his Facebook page concerning all the fuss, “I hope the FBI runs the name of every witness who is wearing a t-shirt that says “We will not Comply.” They’re a bunch of terrorist in the making.”
The founder of The Patriot Picket, Jeff Hulbert spoke out afterward, “Leonard’s social media post is a typical reaction from Democrats who want to feel first and then think later.
Government can’t operate when Democrats only navigate with their feelings, and the group’s slogan ‘We Will Not Comply’ is a ‘forecast.’
It’s not a threat, it’s a forecast. It says if they pass these tyrannical laws where they, say a class of rifle that they told us would not be restricted six years ago, now they’re back to saying we want to take them away.
They have violated a pledge. They’ve always said, ‘we’re not coming for your guns.’ This is proof that they are coming for our guns no matter what.”
Leonard ran for the Maryland State Senate seat and lost in 2018.
We can see why!
