Joe Biden has finally realized that the left would like a daily coronavirus dispatch from anyone who is not named Donald Trump. Sleepy Joe needed a few days to get the message but he is wide awake now. He even made an appearance (via emoji that was probably sent by a staffer) in a popular Instagram Live party over the weekend.
Now that he’s sentient, he wants to make sure that the left knows he’s still with us. This does not strike us as a great idea but what do we know? The nation does not need to be receiving conflicting messages from various politicians at the moment. Confusion needs to be reduced, not encouraged.
We do not expect much less from the left. These are the people who decided to act as if Donald Trump was not “their” president. They are willing to cling to their delusions, even when we are in the midst of a global pandemic. If you let the left make all of the decisions, they would have already set up their very own shadow government.
Joe Biden is planning a regular shadow briefing on coronavirus to start as early as Monday to show how he would handle the crisis and address what he calls the lies and failures of President Trump.
Biden gave a preview of what’s to come in a conference call with reporters Friday, where he listed a litany of false and misleading statements from Trump, who has been holding regular White House press conferences concerning coronavirus preparedness and response that have been broadcast live on all major networks.
“President Trump stop saying false things, will ya?” Biden said. “People are worried they are really frightened, when these things don’t come through. He just exacerbates their concern. Stop saying false things you think make you sound like a hero and start putting the full weight of the federal government behind finding fast, safe and effective treatments.”…
Now, he said, his house is being outfitted with equipment that would enable him to livestream events, have interactive tele-press conferences and broadcast interviews with network television.
That’s why there has been so much clamoring for Joe Biden briefings. The same candidate who can barely walk and chew gum at the same time is now going to be responsible for offering key information on a daily basis. If his rallies are any indication, these are going to be spectacularly awful. At least the rest of us will get to enjoy the unintentional comedy factor of these briefings.
Biden’s going to offer us his alternate version of how things should work and we are sure that he will be taking plenty of shots at President Trump. That’s all he’s good for at this point. It’s not like he has any actual solutions to the problems that we are experiencing at the present moment. All he can do is point fingers and play the blame game.
“Uncle Joe” even offered us a preview of what we can expect from his future dispatches this past Friday. Biden is going to blame this entire crisis on Trump and reiterate the same points over and over again. We get it, Joe. You think that Trump is a liar and that you can do his job better than he can.
Guess what? No one would want these dispatches from Trump if the situations were reversed. The same media types that are encouraging Biden would be on Trump’s case, accusing him of contributing to the erosion of democracy. Meanwhile, Trump is going to continue to have his daily press conferences and provide the necessary information.
He is not going to allow Joe Biden to seize control over the current narrative, that is for sure. We are still laughing at the idea of a serious presidential candidate not knowing how to set up a live stream. How is this man going to be leading the nation when the idea of starting a teleconference unnerves him this badly? He needed over a week just to figure out this simple task.
Now that Biden has essentially sewn up the Democratic nomination, his team is now setting their sights on Donald Trump. The rationale is understandable, even if it is misguided. Coronavirus has changed the way that Biden’s campaign is going to unfold. He can’t have any more rallies. The days of shaking hands and kissing babies are over now.
In a bizarre way, this may work to Biden’s advantage. He won’t have as many gaffes as he used to. Since he can’t speak in public now, he will have to find new ways to screw up. Joe cannot actually campaign on anything else. COVID-19 is all that anyone cares about. It is easy to see why Joe views this as an opportunity to bridge the polling gap between himself and President Trump.
Letting the world know that he would handle the coronavirus more easily than President Trump is the only option that he really has left. While he can certainly present himself as a man of the people, he also runs the risk of looking too calculated. It’s very easy to sit at home and offer critiques of the man who is actually doing the job.
Biden is also bound to experience a wide range of technical difficulties. He has “grandfather who needs his son to come over and teach him how to change the input on his television set” energy and there’s no denying that. He wants to set himself up to be compared with the sitting president and he may get more than he bargained for.
